Beyond Knowledge: Parents Becoming Skilled Healers Through Coaching Support

Knowledge is powerful, but it is not always enough to build the skills needed to reach a goal—especially when parenting children with challenging and often confusing behaviors. Like learning to play golf, tennis, or the piano, growth is accelerated with the support of someone who can guide, model, and practice alongside you.

In this workshop, you will hear from three distinct voices: a coach, a coaching client, and a TBRI practitioner who develops training materials to support families. While each story is unique, many parents share the experience of feeling stuck between knowing what to do and being able to do it in the moment.

Meaningful support goes beyond providing information—it creates space for practice, reflection, and encouragement in real time. Through case studies and personal experiences, this workshop will explore how individualized parent coaching can powerfully come alongside families, helping bridge the gap between knowledge and action while supporting the sustainability, effectiveness, and enjoyment of foster, adoptive, and kinship placements.
