What Parents and the Christian Community Need to Know About Kids with Gender Dysphoria

Western nations have reported unprecedented increases over the last decade in young people presenting for treatment of gender dysphoria, with a disproportionate impact among children and youth with mental illness, developmental disabilities, and past experiences of trauma. The purpose of this session is to educate and resource parents, caregivers, ministry leaders, and professionals caring for children experiencing gender dysphoria with the wisdom, grace, and steady guidance of a biblical worldview and anthropology. Attendees will review the research basis for common treatment approaches to gender dysphoria in children and youth, explore steps churches and schools can take to support families in promoting healthy identity development in their children, and strategize approaches to interactions with medical, educational, and social service professionals whose opinions regarding appropriate care and support may come in conflict with those held by parents.
